Shin

This print is part of Arel's continuing series, The Alef-Bet". The "Shin" is the twenty-first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The form of the "shin" seems to surge heavenward, as if reaching towards G-d and a spiritual relationship. This painting uses as its inspiration, a phrase from the morning prayers. The phrase reads: "Blessed is G-d, Master of the Universe, who gives the heart understanding to distinguish between day and night". The rooster depicted refers to the word "sechvi", which can mean either heart or rooster. In the context of this belssing, the rooster crows, but our heart reacts and understands how to deal with new situations. A Giclee print of an original painting by Arel Mishory.
